Welcome to the Nurse Aide Training Program at Warren Memorial Hospital!
The Nurse Aide Training Program offers several training classes throughout the year. The course includes a minimum of 70 hours of classroom/lab training and a minimum 50 hours of clinical experience in local short- and long-term care facilities, in accordance with the Virginia Board of Nursing requirements. After successful completion of the program, participants are eligible to take the Virginia State Certification Exam.
Our next scheduled day class will be held November 3-December 18. The mandatory pre-admission test will be held on Thursday, September 25, 4-7 p.m., and Friday, September 26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
There is a $10.00 test fee that must be paid in the Warren Memorial Hospital Business Office prior to taking the pre-admission test. If you are testing after 5 p.m. on September 25, please pay the testing fee in the Emergency Department before the test. Nurse Aide Training Program staff can assist you if needed. You must bring a current photo ID. The test should take you approximately 20 minutes to complete and covers very basic reading and math comprehension. Your arrival time will have NO bearing on placement into the class.
If you pass the test and are eligible to apply, you then will be offered an application to review which explains the enrollment process, instructions and requirements. The total cost of the course is $850.00, or $650.00 if you are in high school or are a Valley Health employee. A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 will be accepted ONLY when you are offered a spot in the class. Space is limited.
We strongly advise you visit the Virginia Board of Nursing website (www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing
) to view more information and requirements for becoming a Certified Nurse Aide. Because a state and national criminal background check and drug screen are required before taking the program, please review information very carefully.
