In-patient neurology is comprised of an 23-bed acute care unit for medical and surgical patients with various neurological or neurosurgical conditions. The unit operates on a 24-hour basis and is staffed by nurses who specialize in the care of patients with neurological disorders. The largest patient population on the Neurology unit have the diagnosis of stroke, but patients with seizures, meningitis, acute head injury, back and neck surgery, brain tumors and brain surgery also receive care in the unit. The Neurology Unit uses a multi-disciplinary holistic team approach to providing care. The healthcare team may include physicians, nursing staff, case managers, social workers, rehab therapists, and staff chaplains.
