The services and programs our team of multidisciplinary medical professionals
in our neurosurgery department offers include:
Concussions – Our center has collaborated with Mariecken Fowler, MD to provide
high schools in our community with the program ImPACT™ or “Immediate
Post-Concussion Assessment & Cognitive Testing,” which helps
provide student athletes with access to care and post-injury monitoring.
Neuro-diagnostics / neuro-imaging – We use advanced diagnostic imaging technology to test for a broad
range of neurological disorders.
Epilepsy – The Virginia Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Winchester Medical
Center has received a Level 4 Epilepsy Center designation from the National
Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), which is the top tier. Our treatment
center is able to provide patients of all ages with a broad range of treatments
including vagal nerve stimulation, responsive neuro-stimulation, anti-seizure
prescriptions, epilepsy surgery, and diet plans.
Spinal surgery – Our spinal surgeons have over 100 years of collective experience
in back surgery, including advanced minimally invasive techniques and
complex surgical procedures. Our neurosurgeons offer the best care, always
focusing on our patients first and foremost.
Stroke – We have received certification from the Joint Commission as an
Advanced Primary Stroke Center—the only such center in Virginia’s
Northern Shenandoah Valley. This means our patients have the highest odds
of surviving a stroke and can expect the best and most advanced care throughout
Brain surgery – Our neurosurgeons and support team members offer state-of-the-art
diagnostic services and treatment for brain conditions such as tumors,
