Hampshire Memorial Earns “Best Nursing Homes” Ranking by U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News & World Report compiles its rankings based on data from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Hampshire Memorial’s Long Term Care Unit was one of the 11% of nursing homes in West Virginia that earned an overall five-star rating, evaluating performance in health inspections, nurse staffing and quality of medical care.
“We are very proud of this recognition. This reinforces improvements we’ve been making for several years,” said Neil McLaughlin, President of Hampshire Memorial Hospital. “Our move to the new facility in 2011 was key, but the quality of care we provide hinges on our exceptional staff who are committed to maintaining a safe, vibrant, medically-supported home for those unable to live independently.”
“We honor our residents, their past accomplishments and their connections to the community,” said Crystal Larson, Administrator for the hospital’s Long Term Care Unit. “We encourage them to express themselves and make decisions about what they eat, the activities they enjoy, their room décor, and input through a resident council. This is their home.”
Hampshire Memorial Hospital is part of Valley Health, a not-for-profit system of hospitals and other health care services based in Winchester, Va.
